This most unusual shape is formed by several hundred starlings grouping together when under threat from a larger predatory bird. The birds form
a large 'murmuration' or 'swarm' for safety.
That in itself is interesting, but get a hold of another fascinating fact.......
In swarming like this, each starling tracks seven others in order to produce a wonderful ballet in the air. Now that's what you call spatial awareness and movement.
